and luckily what do you say amateur !!! you did a huge job really congratulations, only thing I do not understand why HT limited to 600-100 and not 400-1500 for the rest is really baby, congratulations again, I hope that one day it is also on sale and I book already from now , ciao and good luck

Nice effort. For max56 it is already on [External Link Removed for Guests].
HV is probably limited due to materials used and the distance between the BNC leads on the PCB board. That distance would certainly be gapped at 1500 V. Also BNC is not rated above a certain voltage.

Hi Matrix,
Can you detail a realistic case where you can approach the U-235 identification with this system?
What about the NORM detection, meaning above 1.5 MeV; can the system handle well that range?
Also, do you have some linearity correction implemented?
Regards!

Thank you. The HV above 1kV can be a problem for regular BNC jack adapter that I'm using. Direct soldering of a cable to the pcb can solve this limitation for me, but will a problem for someone who use the kit.

1. you can view the screenshots of the spectrum with detected isotopes. If you are talking about natural ore samples where mostly U-238 is presented, the device cannot detect U-235 in the mix. But if you have a fiestaware or uranium glass it should trigger U-235 detection well.

2. the system can handle the high energy range, depend on the gain calibration of the hardware. The total gain is set with HV and pulse amplifier.
3. energy scale is calibrated with 3 points polynomial that compensate some non-linearity of the probe. However the linearity mostly depend on the PMT specifications and hardwrae gain, you need to check that system has accpetable linearity.
Here I'm attaching exported CSV opened with BecqMoni. As you can see the a coefficient of the polynom is very small that say linearity is great.

hi cipndale, thanks for the connection to the commercial, as you well know both BNC RP-SHV reach 5Kv, I use branded BNCs and non-Chinese ones up to 2 Kv without problems, important is the RG58 / 59 cable that is use, after many tests I only use Messi & Paoloni double-shielded and decidedly soft cables, they are called ULTRAFLEX 7 and also have excellent connectors

Ok
Thank you for the reply. Just out of curiosity is that the NIST Eu152 standard?
